Transition to School Program

welcome-about

At Little Loftys, our Transition to School Program supports each child’s holistic development, helping them build the confidence, independence and foundational capabilities needed for a successful move into primary school. In line with EYLF 2.0, we understand that transitioning to school is more than ABCs and 123s, it involves nurturing strong dispositions for learning and supporting continuity across
home, early learning and school environments.

Our program helps children develop:

• confidence in themselves as capable learners
• resilience and emotional regulation
• social skills such as sharing, turn taking and cooperating
• active listening and participation in small and large groups
• confidence to express ideas and speak in front of others

To strengthen early literacy, we implement PreLit, a research-based program that builds phonological awareness, oral language and a love of stories. Many local primary schools use Multilit, making PreLit an excellent foundation before Kindergarten.

Our Transition to School program is led by Miss Nat, a university-qualified Early Childhood Teacher, who plans intentional, play-based learning experiences tailored to each child’s strengths, interests and goals.

Throughout the year, children’s learning is documented through photos, observations, individual goals and work samples, reflecting their progress and growth. By supporting each child’s wellbeing, identity, communication and sense of belonging, we ensure they approach school with confidence, enthusiasm and a strong sense of self.

Through projects, STEM challenges, creative experiences and group play, children practice cooperation, empathy, communication and self-regulation. Literacy and numeracy activities, fine motor experiences and safety programs prepare them for school while fostering a sense of belonging and capability.
